Listen, i have read the entire book, i just need help with this question because i dont know the characteristics of a typical Victorian women.
I always see Jane as spunky and defiant which would not be very Victorian. She defied the lady who ran the orphanage when she held her dying friend, she cut off her hair to show unity with her friend, she became more to her employer than was proper (eventually marrying him which would have been unheard of!), she ran into a man's room in the middle of the night in her nightgown (ok, so it was to put out a fire, but Victorian women would not have done that), she tried to find out what Grace Poole was up to after she was told not to, she secretly drew sketches of her employer, and to top it all off she was a working women. She even deliberately chose not to marry the nice pastor because she was in love with someone she could not have. A Victorian woman's first responsibility would have been to "catch a husband". I think Jane flaunted society as far as she could without being cut off from a way to earn a living.
