I have been in an abusive realtionship now for 7 1/2 years and I want to get out of it. He used to be phyiscally abusive and i did leave one time before after he gave me two black eyes.And I did place a temp restraining order on him. But he promised to change and I came back. He did stop physically abusing me but still is emotional and verbally abusive. The problem is we have 2 kids together and he moved us to VA from Nj where all of my family lives. I need to move back to nj in order for my family to be able to help me get back on my feet after being a stay at home mom for 5 years. The problem is I have heard from other people it might be illegal since he has parental rights. We are not married though. I want to know if I can move back to nj with my girls without breaking any laws?
I think you can. You might want to call the police. There are also places, such as Safehome, that will help abused women and children. If he is being abusive to your children then not only are you in major danger but so are children's lives. I would seek help immediately.
