Log Cabin

Can aspen tree logs be used to build a log cabin?

I'm working on a school project where we have to build a cabin using environmental resources. We have to get the building materials from the land. On the land, there are a lot of Quaking Aspen trees that could be used for construction.

I know aspen trees have nice, straight logs. But they're a soft wood and probably won't hold up well. Could this be used in making a log cabin? Would it help to seal the logs? Thanks!

Aspen are often used for log homes, the only problem being that they are not very big around, so there are limitations to how big a structure you can build, unless you change to pine for the beams and posts, which most people don't like to do.
