How would you personally read In Flanders Fields?

A war poem text below: In Flanders Fields by John McCrae, In May 1915 Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place, and in the sky The larks, still weary Scarce singing, fly. We are dead. A few days ago we lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, heart, and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields here. Take our struggle against the enemy: To carry the banner of the torch, be yours to hold it high. If you break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields. During WW1 poppies flourished around the country where fighting had taken place - as they do in a recently disturbed soil. For this reason, we British still wear poppies in our buttonholes in November to commemorate the dead. The crosses are figurative, marking the places where millions of men died. The lark is a symbol But that man is terrible for people, nature still rules. The second stanza, it is clear that the dead who fell in battle are talking about - they point out that until they are killed, they were merely men and other men and they shared all the emotions feel alive again. They ask for life to continue the fight and they go on a metaphorical torch, saying they can not remain quiet in their graves if life does not continue the battle. I do not like that last stanza, as it does to encourage young men to pursue and kill other young men, simply because they are the enemy. The cause is regarded as a noble - hence the reference to the torch is passed. Maybe faith that the best way to have kept with the dead have been organizing an honorable peace so that others do not die and the world will be spared a century of conflict. The poem was written in 1915, when perhaps a few were still all "Gung Ho "of the war. Read the poems of Wilfred Owen (who was killed in the last days of fighting) to get a different perspective
