Can a queen size mattress and box spring work with Ikea's Birkeland bed?

I am thinking about purchasing the Birkeland bed and I was hoping someone who has one can tell me if it works with a queen mattress AND box spring. Would it be too high? It does say that the bed can adjust to different heights to accommodate mattresses of different heights.

How high is "too high" for you? It is a platform bed, and doesn't require a box spring at all.
