Punch Needle

The punch needle stitch is like a sewing machine stitch. It is a two thread system. The top thread is through the eye of the punch. Punch the needle through the fabric. This will make a loop on the bottom side of the fabric. Lead the second thread from the bottom side through the loop. (Don't go through the eye, just the loop.) Pull the stitch so it looks even. It will take a few stitches to look smooth. Hint: practice on cardboard. Be cautious to not punch yourself, seriously that is painful. "Sailors palms" are available, it is like a big thimble for your hand if you are going to be sewing a lot.
