Christmas Memories?

What memories do you have of ornaments past?

I remember my grandma having white deers hanging on the trees. She would save the Christmas wrap from year to year and the tinsil from year to year to be reused.

I also remember my first "real" job at Christmas time. I was a clerk in a store that sold those gold balls that made bird sounds from the trees. We put up the trees in late Oct, and by the end of Dec, we all wanted to squish those gold singing ornament balls. They went "Chirp, Chirp, Chirrriiipppp!" all day long in a high shrill sound. By the time Christmas came we hated them.

I also remember a cardboard star that went on top of the tree covered with tinfoil. My sister was 10 years older than me, and she had made it. It was ugly, but we used it every year.

I just remember my mom always had all blue lights on her tree & pictures of all 13 grandkids! Every year we went to her house & we had to sing all the Christmas carols! Her favorite was 12 Days Of Christmas. We each had to pick one of the 12 ornaments out of the box & whatever got that was the line you had to sing. Every year she was the "Partridge In A Pear Tree." Everyone used to fight over 12 Drummers Drumming so they only had to sing once! No one can do "Partridge in a pear tree" like her, so we don't sing that one anymore. I kinda miss it though.....
