I read some articles about growing square watermelons. Can you do the same thing with other fruits/ vegetables?
Yep, you can do this to most things, but its much easier to shape fruits and veggies that have a hard rind, like watermelons, pumpkins, squash and zucchini. Other things like tomatos tend to rot quickly when grown in something to shape them... because the skin tends to break.
I have successfully done pumkins in various shapes as well as squash in the shape of a heart. My kids decided it would be a fun experiment after we went to Japan and saw the square watermelon.
