I have my adult female ball python in a 40 gallon glass viv. It has worked well for me, but I am daydreaming about having her in a bin, as I am currently having temp/humidity issues right now, and a bin would help a lot.
What size (dimensions) bin would you suggest for my girl? She's about 3'10". She will also need to be fed in the bin. And will one heat pad (it's kind of big) be enough to heat the whole enclosure or will I need to invest in some other heating method?
I use Sterilite bins from Walmart. You can go with a 32 quart or better yet, a 41 quart bin. I melt holes in the side with a soldering iron. I used to use a drill, but it leaves sharp edges and can crack the bin. The plastic bins are far superior to glass aquariums, in my opinion, especially with heat, humidity, and cleaning. The heating pad should be fine, especially if connected to a rheostat or thermostat. I use Flexwatt heat tape for mine, which is similar to a heat pad.
