Dim Gold

Night feeds and formula milk?

It might sound like a pretty dim question but how do you tackle having to make a bottle up for a baby and allowing the boiled water to be cool enough? The guidelines say that you need to allow the boiled water to cool for 30 minutes approximately before giving to a baby, but 30 minutes with a screaming child is a long time?! I'm planning to use SMA Gold. Can these feeds be made up beforehand? Thanks

Hi i use sma gold aswell. when my daughter was first born I would boil the kettle first thing in the morning fill 2 bottles and put the teats & lids on. Leave them on the side to cool so they are ready to add powder when needed. I then boil the kettle at lunchtime when I have a cuppa and do the same thing again and then in the afternoon aswell. In the evening I make 2 bottles of boiled water before I go to bed and I have a tommee tippee measuring pot (it has 3 compartments and a pouring lid) which I measure 2 lots of powder into. I'd take the 2 bottles and the powder tub upstairs to bed with me and i'd make a bottle whilst in bed when she woke in the night and that left me one for when she woke up in the morning. If you want to give the bottles warmed (as i did) get a cheap bottle warmer (boots own type) for downstairs and get one of the bottle warmers that turns itself off for upstairs (much safer when your half asleep!)
